Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Staff & Firefighters Recognized with Lightning Bolts

On January 7^th, 2020 at approximately 8:45am, firefighters responded to a call at Clippers Arena for reports of a victim with no vital signs. Arena staff and members of the public jumped into action prior to firefighter’s arrival on scene. When firefighters arrived onsite they were able to take over CPR and use the defibrillator.

Thanks to the fast response by bystanders and emergency services, the victim has recovered and returned to working fulltime.

On December 10^th, Fire Chief Bill Snowball along with Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt presented five members of the fire department and 1 town staff member with certificates of recognition and Lightning Bolt Award pins. The Lightning Bolt Award is given when a cardiac arrest victim is resuscitated and the victim survives a year after being released from hospital. Those receiving the awards are Andrew Adams, Brad Clubine, Brent Turner, Kent Armstrong, Michael Jeffrey, Jeff Bignell.

Their quick response and selfless actions saved a life and for that we are eternally grateful,” said Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt.

This stresses the importance of CPR training for the general public who play a key part in these success stories. You never know when you may be faced with the opportunity to help save a life.
