Stouffville Hands Out Inaugural Heritage Awards

The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is excited to be recognizing two heritage properties at a special plaque unveiling ceremony on June 4 as the first recipients of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Heritage Awards.
This year’s recipients are the gothic style two-storey residence at 233 Second Street and the former Mansion House Hotel, Stouffville Junction , at 6162 Main Street, on the corner of Edward Street.

Stouffville Unveils Land Acknowledgement Plaque at Town Hall

The land acknowledgement plaque for the Town was unveiled yesterday at Town Hall, recognizing the contributions of Indigenous peoples to this place.

Town Facilities on Modified Hours for Victoria Day Holiday

Town of Stouffville buildings and facilities are on modified hours on Monday, May 23 to observe the Victoria Day Holiday. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 24. The Leisure Center will be operating from 7:30 to noon. 
Aquatics
Lane Swim: 7:35 a.m.
Lane Swim: 8:30 a.m.
Aquafit: 9:30 a.m.
Family Swim: 9:30 a.m.
Leisure Swim: 10:30 a.m.

Town Reminds Residents Of Fireworks Safety This Victoria Day

Monday, 16 May, 2022

To minimize the risk of fire and burn injuries, Whitchurch-Stouffville Fire & Emergency Services (“WSFES”) urges residents to avoid informal neighbourhood fireworks this Victoria Day weekend.
"Fireworks can be extremely dangerous," says Whitchurch-Stouffville Fire Chief Bill Snowball. "For this reason, family fireworks or informal neighbourhood displays are not recommended. They pose a real threat to people and buildings in the area."

Spongy Moth - New Name, Same Pest!

Tuesday, 26 April, 2022

In 2021, York Region experienced a significant spongy moth outbreak resulting in heavy-to-severe tree defoliation. This outbreak is part of a typical 7 to 10-year cycle with peak infestations lasting 1 to 3 years on average.
Based on spongy moth egg mass surveys conducted in fall 2021, it appears 2022 may be the start of a declining spongy moth population. While defoliation levels overall may be lower in 2022, trees are still at risk as spongy moth populations are predicted...
