Street Sweeping
The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville begins its annual Spring Sweeping Program at the end of April each year, weather permitting, to clean all Town streets of sand and debris deposited on the street during the winter.
Generally main roads are swept first, followed by residential streets. The sweeping operations are expected to be completed by the end of May of each year, weather permitting.
The Street Sweeping Program improves the cleanliness and aesthetics of Town streets and parking lots throughout the municipality. Spring street sweeping also improves water quality and the environment by removing pollutants that can be transferred to water bodies through runoff.
We encourage residents to clean sidewalks and boulevards by sweeping the excess winter sand to the curb or edge of road. To help us provide the best service possible, please do not push sand into piles on the road as the sweeper has difficulty picking them up. When possible, please minimize residential street parking during this process to ensure best results.
If you should have any questions regarding the Spring Street Sweeping Program, please contact the Town's Customer Service Centre.
We appreciate your assistance.
