Home/Residents/Garbage, Recycling and Composting/Special Collections Disposal

Please help keep your neighbourhood clutter free and do not place metal or bulky items out before your scheduled collection day. This is a By-law violation and could result in a fine.

Metal Item Recycling & Bulky (Large) Item Pick-Up

Large metal items such as appliances, barbecues (no propane tanks), bed frames, furnaces, hot water heaters, metal bath tubs, storage sheds and bicycles must be recycled. Call 1-866-421-5625 to book your special curbside collection. For safety, remove doors from fridges, freezers, dishwashers and ovens.

If a special collection is not booked, metal items will not be collected. Metal appliances and scrap metal can also be dropped off at select York Region Public Drop-off Depots.

Furniture, Mattresses, Box Springs, Plastic Lawn Furniture, Toilets, Carpeting, etc.

These items can be placed at curbside for pick-up on your regular bi-weekly garbage collection day. Please do not break down or separate large items if possible. Bundle small loose pieces. Drivers may refuse to collect if there is a safety concern due to sharp edges or nails or screws sticking out of material. Tie carpeting and linoleum in rolls measuring no longer than 1.2 metres (4 ft) and weighing less than 22 kilograms (50 lbs) (maximum 10 rolls per collection).

Toilets must be separated into two pieces (tank/bowl) and drained.

Please remove glass from mirrors, doors, wall units, tables, picture frames etc. Glass must be broken and placed into a sturdy, sealed cardboard box, clearly labelled "broken glass" for collection. Any items with the glass still in place will not be collected.

Bulky (Large) Items and Metal pick up is for residential properties only.  Commercial establishments are not eligible for large item/metal collections. Commercial establishments must take large and metal items to one of the York Region Public Drop-off Depots.

Bulky Item (Large Article) Pick-Up is intended for the collection of up to four (4) large household items per collection, not extra bags or boxes or large amounts of waste.  The Town and GFL reserves the right to refuse collection if the items put out interfere or impact on with driver safety (i.e. large piles of materials placed curbside) or operations.

Residents are asked to take large amounts of waste to one of the York Region Public Drop-off Depots.

Construction & Demolition Waste

Construction and demolition waste is not collected curbside. Please take these materials to select York Region Public Drop-off Depots or donate good quality materials to a charitable organization.

For collection inquiries, please contact GFL Environmental Inc. at 1-866-421-5625 or WasteLine@gflenv.com
