What is this Study All About? The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has initiated a master plan study to determine its short and long-term water and wastewater infrastructure needs to support growth to 2041. The Water and Wastewater Master Plan will:
- Provide a strategic vision for the next 25 years to accommodate future growth, and ensure safe, clean drinking water and effective environmental protection
- Ensure safe, sustainable and optimized water and wastewater services
- Provide a business case for the need, timing and cost of water and wastewater infrastructure through an integrated process
How is this Study Being Undertaken? This study is being undertaken in accordance with Approach #2 of the Master Planning process as set out in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. This approach involves the preparation of a master study document at the conclusion of Phases 1 and 2 of the Class EA process where the level of investigation, consultation and documentation will satisfy the planning requirements for Schedule A, A+ and B projects and provide the basis for future investigations of any identified Schedule C projects.
How can I Participate in this Study? The Town wishes to ensure that anyone with an interest in this study has the opportunity to be involved and to provide input. Opportunities for input will include two Public Information Centres (PICs) as well as direct consultation. The second PIC will focus on the water and wastewater servicing alternatives and preliminary preferred solutions.
