Livestock Valuators
MANDATE
Livestock Valuers conduct inspections to evaluate damages of livestock claims in accordance with applicable legislation and Town practices/procedures.
Appointments shall be for the term of Council expiring upon the appointment of successors by Council unless any such appointments are specifically terminated earlier. In the event of a vacancy, Council shall fill the vacancy for the remaining portion of the term of the appointee who is being replaced.
All appointees are required to comply with Town policies and procedures and attend a mandatory orientation session prior to the commencement of their appointment.
COMPOSITION
Two (2) members of the public.
FREQUENCY OF INVESTIGATIONS
Investigations as required.
REMUNERATION
$75.00 per investigation, plus mileage pursuant to Town Policy.
CONTACTING THE TOWN WHEN YOU DISCOVER DAMAGE OR LOSS
When a livestock owner experiences damages to their livestock, and wants to claim compensation for the damages, they must contact the Town within 48 hours of discovering the injury or death. The municipality must be contacted first. Please do not contact the livestock investigators directly. Town staff will contact a livestock valuer to contact the livestock owner and visit the damage site.
