If you are building a retaining wall on your property less than 1 m tall in the Town of Stouffville, you need to get approval from certain agencies before starting construction.

We also recommend contacting our Engineering division [link to contact info] to get a site alteration check done before beginning your project.

• Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) or Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) if your proposed retaining wall is near or on flood prone land
• A condo board if your property is not free-hold
• A builder or developer if your subdivision is unassumed by the Town and the developer is responsible for its maintenance
• The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) if your property touches a provincial highway
