Emergency Preparedness Week May 7 -13

If there was a severe weather event today that resulted in loss of power, flooding and you being unable to leave your home for 2 days, would you be prepared?

The Town of Stouffville recognizes May 7-13, 2023 as Emergency Preparedness Week. This week is an opportunity to increase awareness and remind residents how to be better prepared for an emergency.

Many disasters happen without warning. Knowing the risks and having a plan in place can make emergencies easier to manage.

We are urging all Stouffville residents to build a 72 hour emergency preparedness kit. Your kit should include items such as; non perishable food, water (4L/person/day), important documents, medication, cash, blankets, clothing, flashlights, first aid kit and much more. Your kit should be kept somewhere in your home where it is easily accessible and can be taken with you if you need to evacuate your home.

We all have a role to play in emergency and disaster preparedness. Know the risks, make a plan and build a kit.
