New Draft Official Plan Council Meeting Cancelled

October 26, 2023

The Town has released a memorandum announcing the deferral of the adoption of the Town’s new Official Plan. This decision comes after a statement released by Paul Calandra, Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing earlier this week. Minister Calandra will soon be introducing legislation to reverse Official Plan decisions and wind back provincial changes to a number of new Official Plans, including the Region of York Official Plan.

Final Draft of Official Plan going to Council November 1

The Final Draft of the new Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Official Plan will be presented to Council on November 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. for potential adoption. After Council approval, it will be submitted to the Region of York for final approval.

Median construction to begin on Main Street at Palmwood Gate on October 23

October 17, 2023

Stouffville has recently entered into an agreement with the Region of York to begin the construction of a landscaped median along Main Street. This project will extend from the existing median's endpoint to the intersection of Palmwood Gate and Mostar Street. Construction activities are tentatively scheduled to commence on October 23, 2023, with the anticipated completion date set for December 15, 2023, barring any unfavorable weather conditions.

Take notice that at its meeting on June 6, 2023, the Compliance Audit Committee (the “Committee”) In accordance with subsection 88.33(17) of the Municipal Elections Act, the Compliance Audit Committee is required to consider Reports from an auditor within 30 days of its receipt and determine if legal proceedings are to be commenced against the Candidate for the apparent contravention of the Act.

Feedback Wanted For Development Charge Background Study

The Town is in the process of updating its Development Charges By-law under the authority of the Development Charges Act, 1997. The current by-law will expire on January 1, 2024, at 12:01am. A Development Charge Background Study must be completed, and new Development Charge By-laws must be adopted to allow development charges to be collected starting January 1, 2024.
