Frequently Asked Questions

Will roads remain open during construction?

During reconstruction, roads will generally remain open to local traffic. However, temporary detours or periods of limited access may be required. For your safety, please follow all posted signage and directions from flag personnel.

Will I still be able to access my driveway?

Vehicle access to driveways will be maintained as much as possible. Short-term interruptions may occur when work is taking place directly in front of your property. If your driveway access will be blocked for an extended period, the contractor will notify you in advance.

What happens to landscaping or items located on Town property?

Some residents may have installed fences, irrigation systems, landscaping, or other features within Town property limits (e.g., the boulevard area). These items may conflict with construction activities.

Before construction begins, Town staff or a representative will conduct a visual inspection to identify potential conflicts. Residents will be asked to remove any affected items to prevent damage. Please note that, in accordance with Town by-laws, the Town cannot repair, replace, or reinstate features installed on Town property.

What are the construction work hours?

Construction activities will follow the Town’s noise by-law, with work permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Work outside these hours, including Sundays and holidays, will only occur in emergency situations.

Will garbage, recycling, and compost collection continue as usual?

Yes, collection schedules will remain unchanged during construction. Please continue to place materials as close as possible to their usual location by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.

If access is restricted, the contractor will relocate your bins to an appropriate pick-up point. To ensure your bins are returned, please clearly label them with your street address.

What happens to my driveway if it is affected by construction?

Driveways impacted by road construction will be repaired or replaced as needed to restore them to their original condition within the project limits.

Any driveway work beyond the construction area (on private property) is the responsibility of the homeowner. The Town is not involved in or responsible for private agreements related to driveway replacement and does not endorse arrangements with contractors or subcontractors.
