Construction Notice - Highway 48 Sidewalk from Ballantrae Gates Plaza to Ballantrae Common
Please be advised that the Town Stouffville has awarded the Highway 48 Sidewalk (Ballantrae Gates Plaza to Ballantrae Common) tender to Aqua Tech Solutions, Inc. (ATS).
Description:
• Installation of 1.8m wide concrete sidewalk
• Pedestrian lighting
• Associated grading and drainage works over a length of approximately 650m
Duration:
Work is expected to begin early in October 2026 and is anticipated to be completed no later than November 30, 2026. The work will extend from the Highway 48 entrance at Ballantrae Gates Shopping Plaza to Ballantrae Common, along the east side of the highway.
What’s next:
ATS will conduct layout, staging, and preparatory work for construction in early October 2026. Excavation, grading, drainage works, sidewalk construction, and lighting installation will begin shortly thereafter.
Additionally, the Town has retained the services of WSP Canada Inc. to provide site inspection and contract administration services once construction activities commence.
A project website is established at townofws.ca/ballantraesidewalk and will be updated regularly.
What residents can expect:
Locators from each buried infrastructure owner will attend the site to mark and flag buried lines and cables so that the contractor can work safely. Any planned disruptions to driveway access or Town services will be communicated in advance.
Please label your trash and recycling containers as the Contractor may be required to move these containers once work is underway. The Town is not responsible for damage or loss to privately-owned appurtenances located within the public road right-of-way. Please ensure that any such appurtenances are removed prior to construction.
Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place, as required, during the project. The Town appreciates your cooperation and patience during this construction period.
