Construction Notice: Ken Betz Court to Madori Park Pedestrian Bridge & Trail
Project Update
Please be advised that the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has awarded the Ken Betz Court to Madori Park Pedestrian Crossing and Trail Construction tender to Hawkins Contracting Services (Hawkins). The work consists of the installation of a prefabricated pedestrian bridge and construction of a pathway between Ken Betz Court and Madori Park. Work is expected to begin on July 2, 2025, and is anticipated to be completed by October 31, 2025 (weather permitting).
What’s Next
Preparation work will begin in late June 2025, with a final stage of archaeological assessment. This work will include stripping of the topsoil within a portion of the project area to ensure that any items of archaeological interest are catalogued, and that the archaeological integrity of the site is protected during the upcoming construction phase. This work will be completed by Todd Brothers, under the observation of archaeology staff from Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). Full scale construction activities are expected to commence on July 2nd, 2025.
Additionally, the Town has retained the services of RJ Burnside to provide site inspection and contract administration services once construction activities commence.
A project website was established. A public information presentation, along with updates to the construction schedule will be posted here in the near future.
What Residents can Expect
Preparation work, including construction equipment staging, protective fencing, cautionary signage, flagging and survey activities will be underway by late-June. Construction access will be from the south end of Ken Betz Court and west end of Brucefield Court. Work is not intended to interfere with regular public use of Madori Park pathways, but flag persons, protective fencing and signage may be used when construction equipment is accessing or transiting the work site. Residents are asked to observe caution and to obey cautionary signs when work is underway. This work is not expected to impact private property or garbage collection activities, but residents are reminded to please label their garbage and recycling containers as a best practice. The Town appreciates your cooperation and patience during this construction period.
