Notice of Temporary Water Shut Off for Lloyd Street Reconstruction

Friday, November 24, 2023

Due to the watermain construction on Lloyd Street, the Town of Stouffville will need to temporarily shut
off the water service to residential properties on the street. The temporary water shut-off is for a short period of time – please see below for details. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

There is a temporary water shut-off is scheduled for:

  • Phase 1: Lloyd Street, from Burkholder Street to Rose Avenue, will be shut off from 8am – 3pm.
  • Phase 2: Lloyd Street, from Burkholder Street to Rose Avenue, will be shut off from 12pm – 6pm.

What to do before your water supply is shut-off:
1. Make sure all taps are closed or in the ‘off’ position and ensure that appliances that draw water
(washers, dishwashers,) are also turned off to avoid any flooding when your water supply is turned
back on.
2. Please fill as many containers as you may need during the time of water shut off. We recommend that
you store tap water in large containers (e.g., bathtub, buckets, jugs, and pots) at least two hours before
the shut-off time.
3. With pre-filled buckets, during the shut-off period you can flush a toilet and refill the toilet tank manually
using one of the buckets.
4. Please use soap and fresh water each time you wash your hands, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
If applicable, when your water supply is turned back on, we recommend that you:
1. Remove the aerator (screen) from your tap.
2. Turn on your laundry room or bathtub tap (or the tap located nearest to your property’s water
meter/shut off) and let the tap run for a minimum of 10 minutes.
3. Turn on each cold water tap and let the water run for 5 minutes.
4. Replace the aerator (screen) on your tap
