Region to Resurface North Tract Accessible Trail

1. What is happening at the North Tract accessible trail?

York Region is resurfacing the accessible trail at North Tract to improve safety, durability and overall accessibility. This work is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and accessible trails for all users. The entrance to the accessible trail is being relocated to provide more parking space and to improve drainage by directing water flow to a lower area. To accommodate this change, the accessible parking is being moved to the west side of the lot.

2. Why does the trail need resurfacing?

Over time, the trail surface has experienced wear and tear. The resurfacing project will create a smoother, more stable path, making it safer and more accessible for all visitors, including those using mobility aids.

3. When will the trail be closed?

The trail closure is expected to begin in early May and continue until mid-May The timeline depends on weather conditions and construction progress.

4. Can I still visit North Tract during construction?

Yes, North Tract remains open but the accessible trail will be closed for public safety. Visitors are encouraged to use alternate trails in the area during construction.

5. What other trails are available?

While the accessible trail is closed, visitors can still explore other trails at North Tract. Alternate accessible trails are available at other York Regional Forest locations, including the closest at Hollidge Tract at 16389 Highway 48 in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
