Town of Stouffville Celebrates National Public Works Week: “People, Purpose, Presence”

From May 18 to 24, 2025, the Town of Stouffville proudly celebrates National Public Works Week (NPWW) with the theme “People, Purpose, Presence.” This theme reflects the dedication, resilience, and impact of public works professionals who serve their communities with excellence each day.

Public Works staff in Stouffville play a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and sustainability of municipal infrastructure and services. From maintaining over 540 kilometers of roads and 130 kilometers of sidewalks and trails, to managing water systems, capital projects, and community events support—these teams are essential to the town’s quality of life.

“Our Public Works teams go above and beyond to ensure our community remains safe, clean, and connected,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt. “Their behind-the-scenes work is vital to our residents’ everyday lives, and this week, we proudly recognize their efforts, dedication and professionalism. Thank you to each team member for helping to build and maintain the town we’re all proud to call home.”

Public Works services in Stouffville span a variety of departments including Transportation and Fleet Services, Environmental Services and Waste Management, Capital Projects, and Development Engineering. These teams manage everything from snow clearing and stormwater maintenance to engineering inspections, subdivision development, and long-term community planning.

“This week is about honouring the people who make the Town of Stouffville a safe and vibrant place to live,” said Jack Graziosi, Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works. “The theme this year, ‘People, Purpose, Presence’ truly captures our mission. Our staff are committed to excellence in service delivery, and it’s their passion for public service that drives everything we do.”

The Town invites residents to learn more about the contributions of its Public Works professionals by visiting townofws.ca/publicworks throughout the week for stories, spotlights, and educational content.
