After reading the submission guidelines and speaking with a parent/guardian to obtain permission to participate, submit your entry by email to mayor@townofws.ca! No purchase necessary.

Contest Guidelines

Applicants must submit either an essay (maximum 500 words) or a 2 minute YouTube video with their response to the following 2 questions:
1. Why do you want to be the Mayor for the Day?
2. What are 2 ideas (programs or policies) you have to improve the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville?
Applicants may submit only one entry.
Applicants must submit their entry by email to mayor@townofws.ca by 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
Applicants must be residents of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and enrolled in Grades 5-7 at a school within the Town.
Applications will be reviewed by the Mayor’s Office for completeness. Final judging will be conducted by members of the Mayor for the Day Committee and Mayor Lovatt.
Applicants must clearly explain their ideas, why they feel their ideas will benefit the Town, and how their ideas would be implemented. Entries will be evaluated based on:
1. Creativity;
2. Feasibility of ideas; and
3. Benefit to Stouffville residents.
One applicant will be selected as Mayor for the Day. The winner will not have the legal authority or office of Mayor but will have the opportunity to spend time with the Mayor and Town staff.
All submitted entries become the sole property of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and may be used without remuneration or liability.
