Mayor Iain Lovatt was elected Mayor of Whitchurch-Stouffville in 2018, following his first election to Town Council in 2014 as Ward 5 Councillor.

Mayor Lovatt serves on York Regional Council and is Vice-Chair of Housing York Inc. He also serves as Vice-Chair of York Region’s Transportation Committee, sits on the York Region Audit Committee, and is a member of the Board of Directors for York Telecom Network.

Mayor Lovatt also sits on Parks Canada’s Rouge National Urban Park Advisory Committee and gives his time to several non-profit organizations focused on the arts and health. During the previous term, he served as York Regional Council’s ex-officio Director on the York Region Arts Council.

Mayor Lovatt’s fundraising efforts support the Whitchurch-Stouffville Legacy Fund, which has donated over $1.5 million dollars to local charities and community organizations who work to enrich the lives of Whitchurch-Stouffville residents.

As Co-Chair of The Campaign for Markham Stouffville Hospital, he is also helping advance the hospital’s $150 million fundraising goal.

Mayor Lovatt and his wife, Mary, have three children and one grandchild.
