York Region will be completing an emergency repair resulting in temporary lane reductions on Stouffville Road between McCowan Road and Highway 48 in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Description

• York Region will be completing an emergency repair on the leaking 600mm watermain on Stouffville Road
• Lane reductions will be in place on Stouffville Road between McCowan Road and Highway 48. The eastbound lanes will be temporarily closed, with one lane of traffic open in each direction
• In late November 2025, staff discovered a watermain leak during a site investigation on Stouffville Road. As a result, in December 2025, York Region temporarily closed the northbound right-turn lane on McCowan Road and the eastbound right lane on Stouffville Road to install a watermain bypass. With all required field investigations now complete, staff can move forward with the required repair

Duration

• Wednesday, February 25, 2026 to Thursday, April 30, 2026 

Impacts to travellers

• Stouffville Road between McCowan Road and Highway 48 will be reduced to one lane in each direction during the closure period 
• The northbound right-turn lane on McCowan Road will continue to be temporarily closed 
• Signage will be in place to guide travellers
