Road Construction
Occasionally highways, roads, and neighborhood streets are scheduled for construction without closures, and may involve lane closures.
Construction projects can be coordinated by either Stouffville, York Region or the Province of Ontario.
Early Summer 2025 to Mid-Fall 2025: York Durham Line from Bethesda Sideroad to 14th Avenue
York Region will be upgrading York Durham Line from Bethesda Sideroad to 14th Avenue in Markham and Whitchurch-Stouffville, from early summer to mid-fall 2025. The project includes resurfacing the road, replacing culverts, cleaning ditches, and replacing curbs. Traces of asbestos in the asphalt will be safely handled during removal. Road closures will occur in phases, with detour routes provided, and access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
Construction will occur:
• Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
During closures, only local traffic will be allowed, and detour routes will be provided. Access to homes, businesses, and the hospital will be maintained. Road work may be rescheduled due to weather.

Mid Spring - Late Summer 2025: Ninth Line from Main Street to Bloomington Road
York Region will be completing road improvements on Ninth Line from Main Street to Bloomington Road beginning mid-spring through late summer 2025. Work includes road resurfacing, new traffic signals at Ninth Line and Meridian Drive, and upgrades at Millard Street to enhance accessibility and pedestrian safety.
Construction will occur:
• Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (minor work)
• Monday to Friday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. (major work)
• Saturdays, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The road will remain open to through traffic with lane restrictions. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
